Hope Remains

Can I be real with you? The week after Christmas is always a little depressing for me. All the hype of beautiful decorations, gift-giving, parties with friends, gatherings with family - it’s gone in a blink. My heart aches at the thought of the twinkling lights coming down, taking the ornaments off the tree, and the stockings being put away for another year. Christmastime is my absolute favorite. The advent season is full of HOPE with so much to look forward to. We are waiting in expectation of the good to come, both in our personal lives and in celebration of the birth of our Savior! There is JOY in the world everywhere you look. It always seems a little sad when it’s over.

But friends, there is still good news. The celebration of Jesus doesn’t end with Christmas. I am reminded of that truth daily. Advent isn’t the only time we get to look forward to what’s to come. Joy doesn’t only exist during the holidays. Hope is not over because the season is over. That baby in a manger grew up. He walked the earth. He made disciples. He gave His life for ours on the cross. He rose from the grave. And He LIVES within us! The Good News was here long before December, and it will continue to be here for every single day to come. I am so grateful that there’s more to the story and that I can cling to the HOPE He gives for tomorrow. May our joy continue to overflow into praise and our hope carry us through every season throughout the year.

“As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more.” -Psalm 71:14

———
“Decorations come down,
And the calendar changes.
But the celebration goes on
'Cause the good news remains.
And the truth of Your promise
Will never be gone.
It's not something we'll lose,
It carries us through
All year long.
The baby in the stable
Is the only one who's able
To bring comfort and peace.
That's never gonna leave.
There is hope for every season,
And Jesus is the reason.
Love came down on Christmas Day.
Now my hope is here to stay!
Here to stay, here to stay.”
