Decisions, Decisions

I think that making decisions is one of the hardest parts of being a coach. There are millions of small decisions that must be made with wisdom just to keep a program running, and I am amazed at how the outcome of a game often hinges on one big decision- like what final play to call for the last ten seconds of the game! On top of that, everyone around gets to decide if he made a good decision or not! And sometimes his decisions are highlighted on the front page of the newspaper.

One of the greatest things we can do as coaches’ wives is to champion our husbands' decision-making abilities. Build them up as they make decisions for the family, and ask their opinion when things come up! We too are making decisions constantly throughout the day!

What’s for dinner? Best route to take? How to help your child who is struggling in school? Not to mention decisions related to work, church and community commitments, and other activities….the list goes on. I don’t know about you, but sometimes my mind is spinning and often there is not enough room for the most important questions: What does the Lord want? How can this situation glorify Him? Am I trusting Him?

"Do not allow this world to mold you in it's own image. Instead, be transformed from the inside out by renewing your mind. As a result, you will be able to discern what God wills and whatever God finds good, pleasing and complete."- Romans 12:2

I am praying that I will learn to not “lean on my own understanding” because my thoughts are not His thoughts. And when I need wisdom (always!), I need to ask Him- He is the only wise One! (James 1:5)

Thank you Lord that the weight of life’s decisions are not on our shoulders. You daily carry our burdens and concerns and will give us wisdom when we ask. Steady our minds and help us discern Your thoughts and ways- we want to follow after You. Help us to encourage our husbands as they lead and make decisions for many people beyond our own families. Give them wisdom and strength to choose Your ways.  We love You because You loved us first. Thank You! Amen!
